FASTeTEN holds 8th project management board meeting, introduces Quality Manager

Paris was the venue on 21 April 2009 for the eighth FASTeTEN project management board (PMB) meeting. During the meeting, the latest developments in the project were reviewed, and Frank Wilson was introduced as the new project Quality Manager. Frank’s job will be to review the project deliverables to ensure that they meet the highest standards, thus underpinning the successful meeting of its objectives by the project.

Frank Wilson has been both an evaluator and reviewer of European Union-funded information technology and eTEN projects. He has a background in governmental, large corporate, small company, and European collaborative contexts, and has also been a project manager. Frank Wilson is from UK-based Interaction Design Limited.

One of the main focuses of the PMB was potential deployment of the FAST bundle of services beyond the ongoing pilot projects in Sheffield, UK, and Valencia, Spain. In South Yorkshire, UK, further potential deployments have been put forward that could involve services related to the police and neighbourhood watch services, regional administration, health services, and information exchange between local authorities.

In Spain, meanwhile, there may be a requirement for wider use of certain services provided by FAST (such as timestamping and proof of receipt), because of plans to move administrations entirely to electronic, rather than paper-based, working. In Italy, FAST could be used as part of a move to digitalise the relationship between citizens and administrations through online form-filling.

Details of further FASTeTEN PMB meetings will be announced in due course.
