FASTeTEN to feature at rural ICT event

The FASTeTEN project will be presented at the end of August at RuraliTIC, a French conference focusing on the role of information and communication technologies in regions, especially rural regions. Baudouin de Sonis, director of FASTeTEN project partner e-Forum, will represent the FASTeTEN project at the event. RuraliTIC takes place in Aurillac in south-central France on 30-31 August 2010. The language of the event will be French.

FASTeTEN identifies opportunities in business plan

The FASTeTEN project has drafted a business plan setting out a strategy for roll-out of the FAST technology, building on pilot deployments of FAST that have been done during the FASTeTEN project. FAST stands for Fournisseur d'Accès Transactionnels Sécurisés, and is a technical platform for secure exchange of electronic documents. FASTeTEN to stage September authentication workshop

The FASTeTEN project will hold a workshop at the World e-ID Summit, taking place in Sophia Antipolis, France, 21-24 September. The FASTeTEN workshop will take place on the morning of 22 September, and will examine the use of eGovernment authentication services in a number of contexts: in education, eProcurement, policing and health, and municipal services. The FASTeTEN project was presented and discussed at two high profile eGovernment conferences and seminars during May. At both, the project was represented by Baudouin de Sonis, director of e-Forum, which is a FASTeTEN project partner. FASTeTEN featured at the events alongside other high profile eGovernment projects such as STORK and PEPPOL, and alongside discussions on the development of European Union eGovernment policy.

FASTeTEN management board meeting

The FASTeTEN project will hold on May 7 a project management board meeting to discuss the progress of the project and to plan priorities for the remainder of the project's duration, up to the end of 2010. The FASTeTEN project, supported by the European Commission's eTEN programme, has been extended by twelve months until the end of 2010. This extension will allow the project to build on its existing pilot activities and integrate two new pilots in Italy and the United Kingdom.

The FASTeTEN project has been awarded an 'honourable mention' in the 'services' category in the DISKOBOLOS 2009 award scheme, which is organised by Serbia's Union of ICT Societies.
The DISKOBOLOS 2009 award winners were announced on 22 December 2009, at a presentation ceremony in Belgrade. The FASTeTEN project has been nominated for Diskolobos 2009, an information and communication technology award given out by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Terazije in association with JISA (the Union of ICT Societies of Serbia), CEPIS (the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies) and the European Chamber of Commerce (EEIG). Norwegian software firm to assist FASTeTEN project

More Software Solutions, a Norwegian firm of developers, will participate in the FASTeTEN project by providing software for a form-server platform that will generate forms that can be completed by citizens or businesses, before being signed, authenticated and dispatched using the FAST bundle of services.

Raising the Game event: FASTeTEN workshop summary

The FASTeTEN project held a workshop on September 17 as part of the 'Raising the Game' event, a seminar held in the town of Rotherham, Yorkshire, England, which focused on the role of identity management as a prerequisite for the evolution of new services, and the broader part that this could play in the European Union's information society strategy, and how it might help Europe emerge from the current economic crisis.
